Music lyrics and link
[Adam Duritz]
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique, and a swingin' hot spot
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
[Vanessa Carlton]
Ooooh, bop bop bop
Ooooh, bop bop bop
[Adam]
They took all the trees, and put em in a tree museum
And they charged the people a dollar and a half to see them
No, no, no
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise, and put up a parking lot
[Vanessa]
Ooooh, bop bop bop
Ooooh, bop bop bop
[Adam]
Hey farmer, farmer, put away your DDT
I don't care about spots on my apples,
Leave me the birds and the bees
Please
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot

Hey now, they paved paradise to put up a parking lot
Why not?
[Vanessa]
Ooooh, bop bop bop
Ooooh, bop bop bop
[Adam]
Listen, late last night, I heard the screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi took my girl away
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
Well, don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise to put up a parking lot
Why not?
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
Hey hey hey
Paved paradise and put up a parking lot
[Vanessa]
Ooooh, bop bop bop
Ooooh, bop bop bop
[Adam, Vanessa]
I don't wanna give it
Why you wanna give it
Why you wanna giving it all away
Hey, hey, hey
Now you wanna give it
I should wanna give it
Now you wanna giving it all away
Hey, paved paradise to put up a parking lot
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique, and a swingin' hot spot

Journal write
"To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, -- that is genius. Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string." When I first read this quote, I thought that the quote was telling us that everyone has their own way of thinking and own ideas. I believe no one does share the same ideas down to the last details, but people do share more general parts of the idea. We are all different which is a big reason why we cant share the same thoughts. You can debate all day about if people share the same ideas or not but to be thinking of something down to the final detail as someone else is a very small percent. It could happen, but to me it seems like it never does or it happens so rarely no one usually sees it happen. In conclusion, I think the quote "To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, -- that is genius. Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string" talk about every having different ideas and when we put them together we can make something better than it could have been with just one idea
Poetry
2 questions
Which of the poems had the most meaning for you personally?
For me the poem Alone was the most meaningful since we all can relate to that poem because we all feel alone sometimes.
How do poems resonate with your own experience?
Poems stick with me easy since I remember songs or rhymes better than just sentences and also poems really express how someone feels and can show there true emotions. To me since the author gave me the opportunity to see what he or she feels, the least I can do is respect it and remember what he or she wrote.
Music
I picked the song "Big Yellow Taxi" by counting crows. The reason why I picked this song is because in the song, it talks about change and everybody changes for good or worse. Sometimes we change and lose something and as the song says "you don't know what you got till its gone". Identity is about always changing little things even if we regret it in the future
